PROGRAM UPDATE

We had a very, very successful Polar Plunge this past weekend! In addition, we’ve held two outstanding Local West-Put Basketball Tournaments.
Great times….
Here’s a look at what’s happened and what’s upcoming in the Valley…
UPCOMING EVENTS:
29 March, 2008 – Regional Aquatics, Powerlifting & Basketball – Marist
This event is a QUALIFYING event for any athlete/team that wishes to attend the SONY
Summer State Games. Registrations for this event are due in the office by 14 March, 2008. If you need a registration packet, call immediately. If you have already registered, we will see you there.
19 April, 2008 – Time Trials EAST – Putnam Valley HS
This track & field event is a mandatory trial for any athlete wishing to attend Spring Games EAST. Registration packets will be mailed this week. The deadline to register is 4 April, 2008.
10 May, 2008 – Spring Games WEST – West Point- USMA Academy
This event is a track & field competition for the athletes in Orange, Rockland, Sullivan and Ulster counties, respectively. Registrations will be mailed this week. The event will include Adaptive Games and Aquatics. The deadline to register is 18 April 2008.
17 May, 2008 – Spring Games EAST – Mahopac HS
This event is a track & field competition for the Athletes of Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess
counties, respectively. Registrations will be mailed AFTER Time Trials. This event will include Adaptive Games!
28 June, 2008 – Regional Bowling Competition – Chester, NY
(Orange Co.)
This is a new Regional Bowling Competition just added to the calendar. Coaches, please note that this event is AFTER Summer Games and is a great opportunity for your athletes. Please make note and free up the date. There will be a regular two game competition followed by lunch
and awards. Registrations will made available approximately one month prior to the competition date.

PAST EVENTS
24 February: Unified Bowling - White Plains
This event saw over 100 Special Olympians and Special Partners team up to compete as pairs our third annual Unified Bowling Competition. This competition saw 54 teams do battle with the pins. The athletes had a great day taking home a ton of medals. The Special Partners
were outstanding, as always, and cannot wait to do it again. Thanks to all that were involved…you helped create a wonderful competition!
1 March, 2008: Basketball Team NORTH:
This local Basketball event saw 11 teams and over 100 skills athletes competing at two different locations. As always, it was a great success. Special thanks to Katie & Leslie for doing the set-up and securing volunteers. Thanks to Somers HS for hosting the Team event.
Thanks to Kennedy Catholic for hosting the skills event. Thanks to the Yorktown Elks, as always, for their continued volunteer support.
8 March, 2008: Basketball Team SOUTH:
This local Basketball Team event saw 15 teams in attendance. The competition was fierce in all divisions of play. Special thanks to White Plains for hosting the event, Margo V. for setting it all up, and to our friends, the officials. Too, we would like to thank Nancy Logan for her efforts in organizing the teams and helping to create fair divisions.

Again, coaches, if you cancel for ANY reason, please call and let us know! Weather is a reason! Mat does travel to your venue even if the weather is questionable…..call and let me know, so I can get word to Mat! Thanks again for your efforts!
