Time Trials was a just deluge of fun!
Thanks to all of the agencies (athletes, coaches, and parents) that came out in the less than stellar weather to partake in the events! Your efforts, patience and tolerance were appreciated! Special thanks to the volunteers that braved the day and made it as successful as it could be!


UPCOMING EVENTS

May 6, 2006 – Spring Games WEST – Rockland, Orange, Ulster &
Sullivan Counties
HOSTED at WEST POINT

The concession in the field house WILL be open and will have food available for purchase the day of the event. The list of prices is listed below as furnished by the academy.
Additionally, please email us with the number of parking/security passes you need. We will have them printed and mailed to you upon request. If it is easier, please phone in your request to us at (845) 878-9722.
Finally, please note West Point has MANDATED that point of entry for the day of the event has been changed to the Stoney gate. All participants, family members, spectators, volunteers, etc. MUST enter through the Stoney gate. Maps will be sent with parking/security passes showing basic entry into the facility via Stoney. West Point staff have assured us signage will be posted on campus directing you folks down to the track.

29 April, 2006 – FDR PARK Miles for Medals Walk………

We invite you to come out to our Miles for Medals Walk on Saturday, April 29 at the FDR State Park in Yorktown. Registration begins at 9:00 A.M., with the walk beginning at 10:00. Help us make this first walk in Westchester a success by encouraging athletes, coaches, friends, family and co-workers to join us! All athletes will receive a Miles for Medals T-shirt on the day of the walk, as will any individual who raises $100. All funds go towards Special Olympics programs within the Hudson Valley Region. GENERAL INFORMATION

· Plans are on the way for the 17th Annual Bresnan Bike Tour. The riders leave from Patterson, NY and finish over 200 miles later in Bennington, VT. The tour will take place June 9-11. *** PLEASE NOTE THIS DATE CHANGE! For more information you can contact Maria Madero at the Hudson Valley office.

Update

Hello all! We apologize for the delay in getting the update out to you this week. It has been slightly hectic here in preparation for the upcoming events. We are looking at a rainy forecast for Saturday, so come well prepared to participate in the rain! The event WILL GO ON!
Also, we delayed print of this update to include some info regarding the Spring Games at West Point and Time Trials. Please pay close attention to that information!

It's still not too late to register for our Miles for Medals Walk, taking place on Saturday, April 29 at the Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park in Yorktown Heights. The walk is approximately 2 miles long and will start at 10:00 A.M. with registration beginning at 9:00. This is our first Miles for Medals in Westchester, and we invite everyone to come out and walk. All funds raised will go towards programs within the Hudson Valley Region. You can register by contacting Chrissy at 845-878-9722 or cshields@nyso.org or go online at www.milesformedalsfdr.kintera.org.

PAST EVENTS:

1 April, 2006 – Summer Sports Coaches Conference – Hosted at White
Plains High School, over 90 coaches were in attendance.
Twenty-eight coaches attended the general
session/protective behaviors. Thirty coaches attended
Track & Field training-certification, and 10 coaches
attended aquatics training-certification. A great deal of
information was disseminated, feedback and questions
were rampant, and overall, the day was a great success.
Special thanks to Mr. Johnson for his timely appearance
and teaching tips!

2 April, 2006 – Marist hosted Regional BB, AQ, PWL –
*9 Basketball teams
*60+ BB skills athletes
*30 + Swimmers
*24 Power lifters
These athletes showed up with their coaches on a sunny Sunday to display their athletic prowess in the aforementioned events. The highlight of the day was watching the gold medal game of division one BB team finish in OT. Congrat’s to all the athletes that participated!
