season with the endemic focus on the REGIONAL and LOCAL levels. It is really very helpful for

SPECIAL OLYMPICS 2011 WORLD GAMES ATHENS, GREECE - OFFICIALS
Special Olympics is requesting nominations for volunteer sport officials for the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens, Greece, 25 June - 4 July 2011. The following sport competitions will
International and/or National Sport Federation Officials Certification, if issued by the sport, and/or
Special Olympics officiating experience is required for all applicants for officials assignments at the 2011 World Summer Games. The majority of the competition technical officials will be recruited, trained and selected from the host country. However, expenses associated with airfare, accommodations, ground transportation and meals will be provided for only a limited number of selected officials from Programs outside of Greece and Special Olympics athletes participating as qualified officials (SOOPA) and their mentors.

2010 NATIONAL GAMES - OMAHA/LINCOLN, NEBRASKA
One athlete from the Hudson Valley Region was selected to represent New YorkState at this event in
July, 2010. Jhonatan Valencia, one of the region's pentathlete's from the Sound Shore Stars program,
has been involved with SO for well over a decade, having participated in the PSSL with Mamaroneck
Public Schools, then graduating into the Stars program. A second HVR athlete, Anthony Ingraham, from the Dutchess program, was selected as an alternate to attend, also as a pentathlete. Please join us in congratulating these two fine young men and athletes.
SUMMER GAMES QUOTA'S
We need to know ASAP what your intentions are regarding SONY Summer Games in Utica. Our quota survey is due on 7 April, 2010. We need to know from ALL of you, how many spots, in what sport, you are interested in, and will actually USE if given. Below is the list of sports...let us know what your interests are and how many of each:

If we DO NOT hear from you by Monday, 5 April, 2010, we will work under the assumption and premise you have no desire to go to the state event.

way to a school last week to find the school closed (snow).
All it takes is a phone call/email. Let's go, huh??? You pay for
it, regardless, so I would think you'd want to save the fee...
it's your dime, but it's frustrating. It's getting difficult to find
people to go to particular schools. Once bitten...

This event took place at MaristCollege on Palm Sunday this year. There were 14 teams from various regions and areas throughout the state, though 11 were from within the region. There were also 65 athletes partaking in Basketball skills and 27 athletes in the powerlifting competition.
Special thanks to Darren and Liz from Marist for putting the event together. From getting volunteers to clearing the way with facilities use. Special thanks to Bones, Sue Jones, Nancy Hogan-Logan, Kelly Jones and Kathi Nolan for getting Basketball team and skills taken care of so effectively and efficiently. You are awesome!
Special thanks to Jim Reardon, his son, and friends for effectively ensuring the safety of the competitors by bringing in a bench, effectively running, judging and controlling the powerlifting competition. You were missed for several years and we truly appreciate having you back! Thanks so much, all of you, for providing an awesome atmosphere for our athletes to compete in.

Track & Field training will be offered for coaches on Tuesday, 30 March at 6:00PM in Mahopac at the Mahopac Middle School located (next to the high school) at:

We will offer General Session and Athletics (Track & Field) training for coaches certification that evening.
Coaches, we really need you to come out to one of the feedback meetings. Please note that we are adding the Coach's Conference Advanced Certification on Summer Sports Rules to each of these meetings, so please come out and join us!!!
