One athlete from the Hudson Valley Region was selected to represent New York State at this event in

July, 2010.  Jhonatan Valencia, one of the region's pentathlete's from the Sound Shore Stars program,

has been involved with SO for well over a decade, having participated in the PSSL with Mamaroneck

Public Schools, then graduating into the Stars program.  A second HVR athlete, Anthony Ingraham, from the Dutchess program, was selected as an alternate to attend, also as a pentathlete.  Please join us in congratulating these two fine young men and athletes.

We need to know ASAP what your intentions are regarding SONY Summer Games in Utica.  Our quota survey is due on 7 April, 2010.  We need to know from ALL of you, how many spots, in what sport, you are interested in, and will actually USE if given.  Below is the list of sports...let us know what your interests are and how many of each:

If we DO NOT hear from you by Monday, 5 April, 2010, we will work under the assumption and premise you have no desire to go to the state event.

Please take a moment to look at the upcoming and past events.  That's pretty much all that's changed.  Appreciate your giving this a look. Same old, same old!!!

Hope you had a good couple of weeks.  Have a great Easter if I don't catch up with you before then.

Thanks and have an AWESOME day!

IMPORTANT DATE: Tuesday, 4 MAY, 2010

Hold the date!!! There is a time correction!!!

The College of New Rochelle has graciously offered the

PSSL a wonderful opportunity.  On Tuesday, 4 May, they are

opening their facility (gym) and through coordination with

their Director of Athletics and Beth Walsh, are offering you an

afternoon of sports activity with sports related give-aways

   hosted by their student-athletes.

It is my understanding that the CNR student-athletes will

set-up stations in the gym focused on the give-aways that

the PSSL athletes will take home at the end of the day.  The

student-athletes will be in attendance for the duration to

   interact with the PSSL student-athletes.

Please check your schedule immediately to take advantage

of this great opportunity.  The gym will open from 3:30PM-6PM

on Tuesday, 4 MAY, 2010.  Please call Ellen at (845) 765-2497.

or email me at Ellen Pikula Thanks.

OTHER STUFF:  OFFICIALS....still people...Mat traveled all the

way to a school last week to find the school closed (snow).

All it takes is a phone call/email.  Let's go, huh???  You pay for

it, regardless, so I would think you'd want to save the fee...

it's your dime, but it's frustrating.  It's getting difficult to find

people to go to particular schools.  Once bitten...

                  hosted at Marist College

This event took place at Marist College on Palm Sunday this year.  There were 14 teams from various regions and areas throughout the state, though 11 were from within the region.  There were also 65 athletes partaking in Basketball skills and 27 athletes in the powerlifting competition.

Special thanks to Darren and Liz from Marist for putting the event together.  From getting volunteers to clearing the way with facilities use.  Special thanks to Bones, Sue Jones, Nancy Hogan-Logan, Kelly Jones and Kathi Nolan for getting Basketball team and skills taken care of so effectively and efficiently.  You are awesome!

Special thanks to Jim Reardon, his son, and friends for effectively ensuring the safety of the competitors by bringing in a bench, effectively running, judging and controlling the powerlifting competition.  You were missed for several years and we truly appreciate having you back!  Thanks so much, all of you, for providing an awesome atmosphere for our athletes to compete in.
