Weekly Update 11/5/07

PROGRAM UPDATE

5 November, 2007

There's only three more weeks to overstuffed turkey and really long weekend. The Bills have gotten their record up to .500, though I really thought they’d go down in complete flames…what could possibly make for a better start to November?
See below for some really neat happenings in the Valley…

UPCOMING EVENTS:

November 10, 2007 – Regional Bowling Competition – New Windsor

athletes. It is a non-competitive event set up in
stations to challenge the athletes motor skills.

ambulatory athletes. All athletes will receive a
Challenger medal at the end of the day’s
festivities.

December 1, 2007 – Regional Physical Fitness Competition – Yonkers
This event allows the athlete competition in
anywhere from 3-10 different disciplines of

year, should boast unprecedented numbers. We
are looking forward to a very successful event.

PAST EVENTS

October 13
– Local Bowling Westchester-Putnam - White Plains
The 3rd Annual Lauren Rizzetta Memorial Bowling
Tournament is held in honor of one of West-Put’s
athletes that passed away far before her prime. This
event saw ‘round about 275+ athletes in attendance.
Special thanks to Tom Solimine and the Junior Bowlers for
presenting the colors (Color Guard) at the opening ceremonies!

October 14 – Local Bowling – Ulster – Saugerties Bowling Club
This brand new competition saw about 25 athletes competing
for ribbons on a Sunday afternoon. Thanks to Ron Winchell for
making it all happen. Ron organized all the training and the
competition itself!

October 27 – Regional Volleyball Skills – Bedford Middle School Gym
This competition saw in excess of 30 Regional athletes competing
for medals in a new venue. Due to the large turnout for team
registration, we had to hold a separate skills competition, as our
athlete numbers are outgrowing our venues. (What a great
problem to have!) The competition was very successful and a
great time had by all. Thanks need be given to Beth Walsh and
the Bedford District for her help in securing said facility and
making the event possible and successful!

November 3, 2007
– Regional Volleyball Team Competition
- Hommocks School
This competition saw 13 teams from the Region compete
for the entire day. Each team played no less than three
games before proceeding into the medal round where
they were guaranteed play of two more games. This
format allowed the most Volleyball to played with little
downtime. All the teams had a great time and
divisions were credible and fair.
Special thanks to Ms. Elson for all her planning,
recruiting (of volunteers & officials) and forethought into
making this tournament a brilliant success. Too, thanks
to all the great staff at the Hommocks for their continued
support!
