Weekly Update 4/2/07

SONY-HVR Program Department here, just wishing you a Happy Easter….Passover…whatever your preference/pleasure. The Mets & Yankees opened on the plus side. So far, so good!
Pretty much like baseball, we hit the ground running through Summer Games and catch our breath at the all-star break! So be sure to call ahead with, plenty of lead time, should you have any questions or concerns.

With just a couple weeks before “crunch-time” a quick reminder…
Please check your athletes Meds/Cons for expirations!

UPCOMING EVENTS:

April 14, 2007 – Regional Basketball, Powerlifting, Aquatics @
Rockland Community College
This event IS a qualifying event for all athletes seeking
to advance to State Level Competition in the
aforementioned sports. It is open to all athletes
currently training in these sports with a certified S.O.
coach. If you have not yet received a registration for
this event and would like one, please contact the
office (845) 878-9722. Again, both Basketball Team &
Skills will be offered at this event.

PAST EVENTS

March 31, 2007 – Coaches Summer Conference – saw over 45 coaches from
the Region at the general sign-in. Thanks to all whom took
the time on a beautiful Saturday to attend. There were 15
or so coaches that took the advanced Athletics cert.
(high jump and advanced coaching techniques in shot put).
This clinic also saw over 15 new coaches get certified in
track & field, and a few in basketball. Additionally, about
15 brand new coaches partook in the general session and
protective behaviors.
Both new and seasoned coaches were active participants
in all the presented materials…those particularly relating
to the upcoming Spring and Summer Games.
Thanks, once again, to all whom gave up a Saturday!
Thanks, too, to White Plains HS for, as always, being
such a gracious host!

April 1, 2007 – Marist Basketball Invitational – This event had 11 Basketball
teams and several skills athletes in attendance. A good time
was had by all. Thanks to Ed Doyle, Kathi Nolan, Linda E. and
the staff at Marist for making this event as successful as it
was. I understand that within the next two weeks, we are to
meet with the staff at Marist to begin plans for next year’s
event! Congrat’s to all who participated!

PSSL – Pioneer Sports School League

Basketball is about wrapped up. The season saw some really good competitions. Ardsley has gotten a game in…at this time, I am aware of a game scheduled with Lakeland on 11 April and another game scheduled for either 10 or 12 April at home against White Plains.
Good luck to them with their maiden cycle!

Washingtonville has shown interest in joining the Pioneer league in the 2007-8 season, as has the Pearl River district. I will keep everyone posted as to any new developments as they occur. For now, all remains status quo.
