PAST EVENTS

May
30, 31, & June 1 – Rhode Island State Games – Selected Pentathlon Athletes Ten of HVR’s pentathlete’s participated in the RISO’s State Summer Games that weekend. Nine of our ten athletes medaled competing against athletes from RI and Va. The divisions were competitive and the weekend a tremendous success. Special thanks to Mat and Kelly, for giving up yet another weekend to volunteer as coaches, to allow our athletes the best of competitive opportunities.

May
31 – Metro Tournament – HVR did send our most stellar athlete to Metro…Tino Avans. Tino participated in Powerlifting for the 1st time after a 3 year sabbatical from the sport. In speaking with his coach after the event, it was stated quite emphatically, that, as always, their experience at Metro was incredible.

June
12-15 – SONY Summer Games – HVR sent well over 200 athletes and coaches to participate in 8 different sports to the State Summer Games. Pictures from that event are available online at: http://www.specialolympicsny.org/ (from there, seek out the photos and videos links). All of the athletes had a great time, won a ton of medals and ribbons,
and got some pretty nice uniforms, too. Thanks to the SONY staff to for putting it all together. Special thanks to our coaches for drudging through the bus rides, sleeping (or not) on really, really HARD beds for three days, and just busting butt to get it done both before (meds, etc.) and during the games. To my nurses…what can be said? Thank you, thank you, thank you. The problems never end, you never stop fixing things. You are the best. The Absolut (nope, not a typo) best! Again, many, many endless thanks. “Mylanta”

PIONEER SPORTS SCHOOL LEAGUE

May 29 –

Thanks so much to the staff at Ardsley for putting together the music (DJ) and the pizza party, snacks, beverages, etc. to create a festive end of year celebration for the all the student-athletes in the league.
