Update

We want to take a moment and express our heartfelt THANKS to all of you that have helped us thus far through Thanksgiving week! You have given so much of your time and selves to make this program what it is for the athletes of the Hudson Valley Region. With that said, and the holiday rush upon us, there are few changes this week from last.


UPCOMING EVENTS


November 30 – (& every Wednesday to follow) Charlie Jones from
Rockland has asked me to extend an invitation to all
agencies with Floor Hockey Teams…If you would like
to, on an OCCASIONAL Wednesday evening, head over
to Rockland county, to play a single game later in the
evening on their league night, your team is more than
welcome to do so. Please call ahead and coordinate a
date and time with Mr. Jones. If you need his number,
please call this office (845) 878-9722, to secure it.

December 3 – Physical Fitness Competition – Athlete registrations are
in, volunteers are calling! This event is likely to see in
excess of 150 people. If you are interested in
attending, please call Linda post haste as divisioning
and volunteer assignments will begin tomorrow!

NEW (2006) CALENDAR ADDITIONS:

JANUARY 6, 2006 – Alpine Skiing Program @ Catamount
This program will run for six consecutive weeks
every Wednesday from 6pm – 9pm. There is a cost
attached for lift tickets, rentals and lessons, should
they be necessary. Please call the office for

MARCH 12, 2006 – Aquatics Competition @ Dutchess YMCA


PAST EVENTS

· The General Session and Protective Behaviors training saw
approximately fifteen new coaches begin the certification process.
Though more were scheduled to attend, a freak weather threat
seemed to keep some seven to ten coaches from venturing out to
the festivities.

· The Rockland Floor Hockey League is off to a flying start with two weeks of competitions under their belts and over 125 competitive opportunities already achieved. ***See upcoming events for more information.

· The Pioneer League is off and running with two weeks of interscholastic competitions under their belts and another two scheduled to take place prior to the Christmas break. The Soccer Cycle will wrap before the holiday and the Floor Hockey Cycle will begin soon after the New Year.

GENERAL INFORMATION

· We are hosting a Unified Bowling Tournament in Westchester. Contact us if you have ANY interested S.O. bowlers. The tournament will be held Sunday Dec. 11, 2005 at White Plains Bowl at 9:30 am. Registrations for this event ARE DUE TODAY!!! If you have need of another day to get the registration in, please contact Ellen IMMEDIATELY as we will begin the heating of athletes tomorrow!

· Rockland County will be hosting a fundraiser on January 29th, 2006 at the Elmwood Playhouse in Nyack. The play being presented will be “Moon over Buffalo”. Tickets will go on sale sometime in November.

· Plans are on the way for the 17th Annual Bresnan Bike Tour. The riders leave from Patterson, NY and finish over 200 miles later in Bennington, VT. The tour will take place June 9-11. *** PLEASE NOTE THIS DATE CHANGE! For more information you can contact Maria Madero at the Hudson Valley office.

coaches start the process of becoming certified in basketball.

· Rockland County Bowling Competition at New City Bowl this past weekend saw over 100 athletes compete for the gold!

· If you have any athletes that might be in need of a motor activities program, please be aware that we are offering an Adaptive Event on November 19th. Contact Linda for details @ (845) 878-9722.

· We are hosting a Unified Bowling Tournament in Westchester. Contact us if you have ANY interested S.O. bowlers. The tournament will be held Sunday Dec. 11, 2005 at White Plains Bowl at 9:30 am. Registrations for this event will be mailed out today. The turn around time for this registration is short, so please look for it in the mail! We have limited space available and efforts will made to accommodate all interested parties, however, entries will be prioritized on a first received basis!

PAST EVENTS

· This past weekend, the Hudson Valley Region hosted its’ Mini-Regional Competition. There were over 85 athletes in attendance from Rockland, Dutchess, Orange, and Westchester Counties, partaking in Soccer Team, Soccer Skills, Cycling, Bocce, and Softball Team. There were also over 30 volunteers present to help make the day a tremendous success.

PAST EVENTS

· This past weekend, the Hudson Valley Region hosted its’ Regional Volleyball Competition. There were 12 teams and 60 skills athletes.


GENERAL INFORMATION

· November 5th! We have secured a site for a mini-Regional to include: cycling, bocce, softball (team & skills) and soccer (team & skills). We will have further information in approximately 1-2 days. Please reserve this date if you have a team or athletes in these sports. This event will be in Northern Westchester, (FDR Park – right off the Taconic Pkwy) in Yorktown) as that is the only facility available at this time. Orange, Rockland, and Dutchess Counties….please take notice.
